Breakthrough Study Led by CHLA Neurologists Links Blood-Brain Barrier Dysfunction and Inflammation With Down Syndrome Regression Disorder

A new research study led by Jonathan D. Santoro, MD, Director of the Neuroimmunology Program at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, shows evidence of dysfunction of the blood-brain barrier and inflammation in the central nervous system in individuals with Down syndrome Regression Disorder (DSRD).The new study, "Evidence of blood-brain barrier dysfunction and CSF immunoglobulin synthesis in Down Syndrome Regression Disorder," was published in the Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology on Feb.
